Für die Befragung wurden Registrierungsdaten von UU als Auswahlgrundlage verwendet. Am 1. Juni 2023 verschickte UU Einladungen zur Online-Befragung an alle Geflüchteten, die bei UU registriert waren, gültige Kontaktinformationen angegeben hatten und von UU rechtlich kontaktiert werden durften. Der Fragebogen befasste sich mit den Integrationsfortschritten der Geflüchteten und ihren Wohnverhältnissen nach der Ankunft in Deutschland.
