All persons living in Germany, with or without a migration history, born 2004 or earlier, with an oversampling of the following groups (based on Residents' registration office sample, onomastically pre-qualified including allocation to subgroups): 1 “Persons without a migration background”, 2a “Persons from Muslim regions of origin”, 2b “Persons from Turkey”, 2c “Late repatriates”, 2d “Persons from (other) countries with guest worker agreements”.

Sampling Procedure

Two-stage stratified sampling: First, 57 municipalities or 60 Primary Sampling Units (PSU) were randomly selected in a Probability Proportional to Size (PPS) selection (recruitment wave 2021). For the recruitment wave 2023, 259 municipalities or 290 PSU were randomly selected in a PPS. The drawing for both sample was carried out with implicit stratification according to federal state and BIK municipality size classes. Secondly, a disproportionate approach was chosen for the selection of people (secondary sampling units) to achieve oversampling in the five subgroups with a migration history.
